Creating a data layer

Data layers, which consist of map features and data about those features, are the basic building blocks of thematic maps. There are several ways of creating a new data layer:

• Use a template from the Template Chooser
• Add points manually
• Import a Shapefile
• Import a KML file
• Import point data
• Duplicate an existing layer
