Creating a text variable

Text variables can store a piece of textual information for each feature in a data layer. The variables can be displayed as labels, used in Smart Layer queries, or used to color features on the map.

Text variables are created automatically from imported data. To create a text variable manually:

  1. Open the data pane by clicking "Show Data" in the toolbar
  2. Click the button with a green plus-sign (just below the variable table on the left)
  3. Choose New Text Variable
  4. Enter a name for the variable and press Enter
