Selecting map features with the Select tool

The Select tool allows you to create a selection of map features which can then be analyzed, modified, or deleted.

To select a single map feature with the Select tool:

  1. In the Map Layers window, select the layer whose features you wish to select
  2. Click the Select button on the toolbar to enable the Select tool
  3. Click a map feature to select it

To select multiple features with the Select tool:

  1. Click the Select button on the toolbar to enable the Select tool
  2. Either:
    • Hold the Command key and click multiple features; or
    • Click and drag on the map to create a selection box
