Creating a Smart Layer
Smart Layers are one of the most powerful features of Magic Maps. They allow you to set up custom rules for displaying a dynamic subset of map features in a data layer. For example, a Smart Layer might be used to show only cities with a population of at least 1 million, or to hide roads that are under construction.
To create a Smart Layer:
- In the Map Layers window, select the map layer whose features you wish to query
- Choose Layer > New Smart Layer...
- Use the query builder to create a set of custom rules and press OK
Note that the New Smart Layer menu item will be grayed out if the selected layer does not contain any variables (and therefore cannot be queried).
