Exporting a map as a QuickTime movie

For maps that change over time, a QuickTime movie is a compelling way to show the evolution of data to computer users who do not own Magic Maps. Movies created with Magic Maps can be uploaded to YouTube or other video-sharing websites.

To export a map as a QuickTime movie:

  1. Choose File > Export Movie...
  2. Type a filename and select a destination folder
  3. Choose a beginning year, ending year, year increment, and playback speed for the movie
  4. Check the box labeled "Include map legend" if you wish to include a color legend
  5. Click Export

Playback speed refers to frames per second. Encoding a movie sometimes takes a few minutes, depending on the number of frames that need to be encoded.
