Trouble importing Shapefiles
Magic Maps can import most but not all ESRI Shapefiles. If you encounter an error while attempting to open or import a Shapefile, review the following checklist to determine the problem.
- Incorrect or unsupported text encoding? Did you select the appropriate text encoding when selecting the Shapefile to import?
- Unspecified or unsupported coordinate reference system? If the Shapefile does not use latitude and longitude for its coordinate reference system, does the Shapefile include an appropriate .prj file?
- Too many features? Magic Maps can become sluggish when opening Shapefiles with more than 10,000 features.
- Inappropriate primary key? Did you select a primary key unique to each feature? If unsure, try importing with the primary key set to "Auto-generate".
